Hey guys finaly picked up my lowwall in 6.5 x 55 at Epps.Great looking rifle, shot show special for 2012.
I cant wait to try it out.It comes with talley base and rings.I just have to decide on what scope to put on it.A 2.5 x 8 x 36 leupold or 3.5 x 10x 40 or 4.5 x 14 x 40?
It also was a great price $1258.00 plus taxes.
They still had instock 223 and 22-250 and 243.
The only complaint is that the walnut is pretty plain for a shot show special,A grade only.
I weighed my rifle with the base and rings on and it was 6.5 LBS.
Anyone know what the twist rate is?
I want to shoot 130 or 140 grain bullets.
Any how its my xmass gift to my self...:):):):)
merry christmas to every one.

According to h ttp://www.winchesterguns.com/products/catalog/detail.asp?mid=534161&family=002C the Rate of Twist is 1 turn in 8"

You've got yourself an excellent and classic carry-rifle. Had one in .243 and it was a very handy (and accurate) rifle. Good price, too!

For hunting with the 6.5x55, I would suggest 130 grain TSX's or 140 grain Hornady InterBonds. The Hornady 120 gr GMX bullet is another mono-metal bullet that should work well on most of our big game.

For casual plinking, it's hard to go wrong with a plain-Jane cup and core bullet in the 120-130 grain range and H4831 or similar slower-burning powder.
