I brought this rifle back from Afghanistan with a bayonet and scabard. The mechanisms are fully functional but the bore is pitted and little is left of the orginal finish. I would guess the overall condition is poor to fair. Can anyone guess at a value? Please advise.

Everytime i give my thoughts on gun values here someone finds fault, as a matter of fact they don't even read the post or do the math, instead of giving their thoughts they criticize, so with that in mind, I will say that in NRA V.Good cond. $225, deduct 55% for fair condition,IMHO...Ben

I think I will go along with Ben on this one; I suspect the bayonet is worth $30 - $50 and if the bore is badly pitted on the rifle, I am guessing $75 - $100 so $125 for the total
That is just a guess on my part

Is the Lebel a needle fire??
I would like to see a picture of it!

Also If anyone had a picture and a diagram of the cartridge they fired that would be interesting aswell!

Maybe you should keep the rifle, clean er up, reload a few rounds and try the old girl out!!

Cheers

If you have paper work or photos that prove that an active duty CF soldier brought it back from Afghanisitan and you write up an account of how it was found I would suggest the value would increase. I would also suggest that a buyer may pay a few more dollars if they are going to the person who brought it back.

This is not an ordinary relic. This is a relic which is now foreever tied to a Cdn campaign which will only become more infamous.

Lebel rifles are hard to find in ANY condition, very rare in Canada. One in really nice shape would sell for about $600 US. The bayonets usually go $75 and up. Many Lebels were destroyed in WW1, some were sent to Afghanistan after that. I think they also got some WW1 French tanks at the same time. FT-17's. Think about $200 for your rifle, $75 for the bayonet. The parts alone on a Lebel are worth more than $100.
