Easyrider.......you did just fine on that rifle and so did smoke73..don t second guess yourself, people like throwing numbers around , based on nothing and backing it up even less. Blue book value on a 1886 with 10 % finish is $850, yours had no finish, you do the math, throw in a little for the cal and pistol grip and take off a little for the bore and mag and wood, and what have you got ....around $750. Ellwood Epps is always over priced so you can t use them as an example, .........
I have a lot of winchesters and many 86 s. That rifle was worth between $500 and $1000, a real good deal at 500 and not so good at 1000.
