I'm hoping someone can help me out a bit, I'm buying a 1888 Trapdoor springfield. 45-70. As best as I can tell it's original condition, buffington rearsight, ramrod bayonet, one piece trigger guard correct 1884 stamp on the breach block etc.
I'd put it at either very good or fine on the NRA antique rating scale. No bluing left but the metal is in good condition, very minor if any pitting. Wood has a few minor dings but no cracks. Is missing the cleaning kit and stuck brass remover tool? from the butt stock.
What can you guys tell me about it? An approximate value would be great, I got a rough idea of a US price, but that may not reflect on the Canadian price much. I assume the buffington sight is regulated for the blackpowder 500gr RN loads. It shoots 535 gr pointed cast bullets very well, I put 3 into 1.5" at 100.
