Just bought this Martini 303 rifle, i know some things about it but not much. Looks like it was put together in its current configuration quite some time ago.

BSA 1890 MK4 reciever
24" Barrel
Barrel is also notched for bolt action extractor.

I was intrigued by it, has nice peep sights and nice wood, what do you guys think?

It is a Martini Henry MkVI later called Martini Metford MkII. A very scarce item unfortunately converted. Only service Martini new made in .303".

Bit of a rare bird it is . Looks to be in nice shape, have you had a chance to fire it or at least cycle around through it ? You might try and unscrew the but pad as others have found some neet things ( was an old practice years ago ) used as a cash for info or ammo .

This is what it would have looked like originally, except probably being a Canadian rifle it wouldn.t have had the handguard.

If there is an additional extractor notch, perhaps the barrel was adapted from a Lee Enfield. Same 1-14 thread, same diameter.

Yes I put a few a rounds through, everything is working great, need to sight it in though. Seeing as it's modernized I won't feel bad putting a scope on it.
