So have a hankering for a 1892 in 44 mag and was wondering what rifles would be best. Ones that do not takedown like Rossi, chaippa, marlin, winchester.
If I go takedown models I would be probably be chaippa.
Please no Wild West guns as they are priced and even skinner model is out once all in

I have two Rossi 92's. A 357 in stainless (pre safety), and a 45 Colt in blue with after. Great guns, and I'm thinking of getting a 44mag that I know of.

Strong action and reliable and accurate. You can't go wrong.

One can do up a Rossi RH carbine and have a ton of fun. I had a .44 mag trapper with 16" along with an RH carbine in 357 mag. The one I kept
is me 45 Colt. Rossi units are fun to tinker with and great little bush rifles.

I have a Rossi 92 in 45 colt. Blued, 20 inch barrel. Love the thing. I put an NOE forward mount on the factory drilled and tapped holes and mounted a 2x pistol scope on it. A little non traditional but I was hoping to find some accurate loads. Honestly shoots everything I’ve loaded well with all my handloads under 2 inch groups at 100 yards. The best load was a Hornady 250gr XTP loaded to a shade under 1800 fps. These shoot around 1-1.5 inches. That would’ve been a nice whitetail load if the Saskatchewan wildlife ministry felt that the 45 colt was not a fair whitetail cartridge.... while making the 223 Rem legal.

My Rossi is the smoothest of all my levers I have owned. It cycles light lead loads and heavyweight jacketed loads just fine. Only negative is the curved steel buttplate that is pretty obnoxious with some of those warmer loads. I just add a slip on neoprene pad and it is just fine.

Now, I just want to find a stainless 16 inch Rossi in 454 Casull!

I own a Chiappa 1892 in .44 mag. It's not a takedown. All wood with colour case receiver. It's a mare's leg with full stock. Butter action on it. Love it.

I'e had a couple Rossi 92 44 mags, someone always wanted them and i keep selling them.... now I'm casually looking for another... Great little guns! Priced right too...

I have a s/s Rossi Trapper model in 44 mag, paid $550 new for it 7 or 8 years ago. Before I bought it, I had heard a few cautionary tales about QC with Rossi, but mine functions perfectly and is a really fun little carbine. Eventually I would like to remove the safety and upgrade the sights, but for the price, these are fun little guns.

Unfortunately the new ones are quite a bit more money now aways. You're looking at around a grand for one now.

I also have taken a new interest in having a pistol cal lever carbine. However I just can’t accept the pricing. No way they should have gone from 550-600 ish for a Rossi 7 or 8 years ago and now double that. Inflation is nowhere near that high and we haven’t seen other goods come up so much in price.
What’s out there for 16” carbines in .44 mag? That would be a sweet little gun with some punch to it.

As the boys bug me about moths in the leather, the butterflies were let go today and a Rossi m92 triple black 44 is on way. Would like winny trapper takedown in 44 but none can be had. Do to sk regs 44mag is one that is legal for hunting

I have an original 1892 Winchester in 44-40 (well, the barrel is new, but the rest is original) The old gum wood stock is one of those 'I wish it could talk' deals, she shows many marks of use and abuse.
It's sad that the cartridge is not allowed in SK. I've taken both whitetails and black bear with mine at close range. Velocity is not everything, size matters. ;)
