I hope there are some lever-action gurus out there who can possibly help me out.
I picked up a well loved 1894 carbine three months ago. It was manufactured in 1916 and looked like it had a saddle ring at one time. I would like to get a saddle ring back onto it, but here is my problem. When my friendly local gun store tried to help me out by pulling out a replacement saddle ring and stud, the hole in the receiver was bigger than the stud.
Can anyone help me with this? Did the old winchesters have a bigger threaded hole in 1916 than they did later on? And if so, does anyone have any leads on where I can get a replacement?
Thanks in advance for any help.
