If I clean this rifle up and put in some elbow grease into is there much interest in people buying it?? Or just sell it as is untouched for 70 years. I believe it's just missing one receiver screw. This one has the ebony insert in the forgrip

When it comes to classic firearms…the amount of elbow grease you put into a firearm and it’s value are inversely proportionate.

She cycles smooth and the bore is ok some pitting but strong rifling

Depends on if the person buying it for the most part is a collector or shooter.Collectors care more about untouched original condition and function where people wanting a shooter grade are more concerned about its shooting capability.A pitted bore can be somewhat problematic depending on how much and the price would have to reflect this condition though it might clean up good or also not shoot that bad.Before I sold it I d take it out and shoot it a couple of times to makes sure it functions correctly and to check the accuracy then you can give a potential buyer a good description of the guns condition

I put a cosmetically challenged but original Winchester 1886 SRC in .45-70 out on my table at a gunshow the year before the Covid shut everything down. Man, was there ever a feeding frenzy over it!

So, ya never know. I say just give it a cleaning & sell it as is.

If you were to take it to a gunsmith he should be able to tell you if it is safe to fire

Two schools of thought. Sell as is with no gunsmith inspection, or have it inspected and if need be repaired, and sell.
At the Easter Calgary Gun show, they were selling for plus $1000.
With mine I just cleaned it as I would with any other rifle.
I reload reduced 30 /40 Krag loads.
