1895 Marlin cowboy 45-70

Trying to figure out a value to put on a 1895 Marlin 45-70 cowboy, 26” octagon barrel. Reloading dies, lots of brass and bullets, mostly 405 grain remington. Haven’t counted everting up yet. Just trying to get an idea as these aren’t seen often and Marlin prices are kind of out of whack IMO.

Honest opinions appreciated! This is not a for sale ad.

It’s been used but in great condition. Has some bluing wear and rode in a scabbard a bit. I would say pretty darn good condition.

And here we go… 😊

The CB version has its followers and with the long barrel w/straight grip are hard to find new let alone used
I'd expect to see them listed higher than a tricked out stainless sbl guide gun
 
Is it a Remlin or a JM stamped rifle ? I have a Remlin 1895 CB. I don't remember how many years ago I bought it but List price was 1049 back then from PGT. Recently I have seen them priced from decent to outrageous with some Remlins as high as 2400. The JM stamped are a bit tougher to find but the price is in the same category as the Remlin from what I have seen. The fit and finish on mine is as good as any JM stamped or new Ruger production, albeit I don't believe Ruger is producing the 1895CB yet. My only gripe is that the trigger is heavy at 5 LBS
They are a fun rifle if you can aquire it. I've hunted deer with mine a few times when it still had open sights but I've since put a scope on it for my old eyes. The only drawback with it for deer hunting is that you can put a coffee can through the wound channel but the animals tip over.
 
If it's a JM stamped Pre CrossBolt safety you won't find many used ones around at all; Never mind finding one for cheap anymore.

I have a JM stamped Pre CrossBolt safety Marlin 336SC 30-30 WIN that I have been offered some serious dollars for from friends but once it's gone I likely couldn't replace it.
 
Yes, it doesn’t have a cross bolt safety.

I understand not finding many used ones around, hence why I asked the question what it is worth roughly. Any numbers to toss out there for ideas?
 
A new Marlin 1895 Guide version is $1750. Yours is not common and hard to find but with the 26” barrel and straight grip will have a more limited audience. But I’d start at the same price plus components. 🤔
