1895 sbl lever rail

i just bought a marlin 45-70 sbl , and i have a question, does anyone know if it was designed for weaver rings? i put a set on, and it seems a little sloppy, but fits. i was wondering if there is a special ring to fit this rail?

The rail on the SBL is a picatinny rail, but most Weaver rings will fit onto it. They are a little loose because the crossbar is smaller than a picatinny slot. I find that they are usually okay if you apply pressure to the ring, holding it forcefully towards the front of the slot as you tighten it.

I used Leupold QRW's after first trying some old Weavers. Far better fit imho. Quick release is a bonus if you want to use the ghost ring site too.
