Well That's what I'm calling it. When I put a few in it will jack them in and out like wild, except for. The last one, and only sometimes it won't lift it quite as high as it did the others. I want to say dirt, but. Why the others would be fine. I think if it were dirt it would effect function with all shells, not just the last. Won't kill me if it don't get fixed but if the answer wasn't to complicated I'd give er a go
 
It only fails on the last round because the spring is partially sprung, or used up. Under compression from a full mag it is still providing enough force to lift the rounds into position where they can be stripped from the mag, but spring tension tapers off as you use up ammo, and there isn't enough tension to lift that final round into place. This is also the same reason it is easier to load the first round than it is the last in a higher capacity pistol mag.

A new spring is likely the correct remedy. I'm not totally familiar with the follower spring in these rifles, but it may be possible to put a bit of bend in the existing spring as a bandaid fix.
