Hi guys ! What would be the approximate value of a 1895 Winchester 30 06 rifle Sporter with an uncut barrel and barrel band still in place ?

Thanks

The Model 1895 sporting rifle in 30-06 or any other cartridge for that matter, never had a barrel band.
I would need a lot of close up photos of several areas in order to put a reasonable value on it.

95s don't bring the big bucks of the 73s, 76s and 86s but are collectors none the less........without some very good and in depth photos, but from what I can see yours appears to be in decent condition except for the barrel band and any damage that was done installing it.

My best guess would be anywhere from 500-1000, depending on that added band.......can't do better without having it in hand or as I said many good detailed photos.

What c-fbmi said. 95's do not command a lot of interest unless in .405 or special order rifles. Can't really tell what make of aperture sight is on that one. A Lyman 21 or 38 would be correct for the vintage. The oddball sight would suggest an aftermarket addition which the rifle would have been drilled and tapped for outside the factory. That kind of thing really turns off dedicated collectors. Without better pics I would guess value would be in the neighbourhood of $600 if the action has been drilled for a non Winchester option sight. It would be prudent to check the headspace as well as 1895 rifles in .30/06 have been known to suffer from locking lug set back. My 2 cents.

Nope, not a 21 or a 38, it's a Lyman 41 which would use factory drilled holes so it didn't bugger up any value there, but the sporterizing did.

To what do you refer?...........This rifle was not "sporterized" IMO, it left the factory as a sporting model rifle..........with the exception of some kind of barrel band which is not original equipment.

Hey, I'm a Savage guy, don't know Winchester from a hole in the ground, if you say it's factory then it's factory, just correcting the sight info.

But I do know that the barrel band must have needed holes in it to be mounted so it's not collector grade anymore. It would be like drilling and tapping scope holes in a Savage 1895.
