Recently obtained this LEC MK1 Its 1896 with a low # 222
My question is about the butt stock. There is no disk as most have and was wondering if this is the proper stock for this carbine?
thanks

No top wood
Would anyone care to give an opinion of value the way it is?

Wrong bolt for a Lee Enfield Carbine. Below is a LEC bolt:flat on one side

You are correct, I seem to remember that the RIC did have the ring you refer too as well as a spliced swell at the nose cap.

There was also a NZ variant - perhaps it was one of these that has been tweaked without the top wood etc. Doesn't explain the missing top wood, butt disc, and incorrect bolt.

For an issue Brit/Canadian carbine it lacks the cavalry nose cap, sight cover screw holes, mid barrel band, and top wood as well as has the wrong bolt?

I've had a few carbines come and go...I'd of said yes, the butt should have a stock disc so perhaps this is a replacement...Does it have an NZ marking on right side of butt socket..? A flattened bolt knob would also be the norm...Nice rifle...The last one I sold went for $700 with correct butt / disc, bolt, mag.....(no top wood) P&S have a couple of NZ carbines in the $1100 range.....

Itza bitza.

LEC Cavalry carbine barreled receiver.
Sht.LE butt stock
Trade pattern carbine forearm which was never fitted with a handguard
MLE Mk.I rifle nosecap
MLE rifle bolt
Commercial carbine 'fish belly' magazine.

Value? It is neither a military pattern, nor is it a commercial version.

Sad to say, even though a nice looking carbine, it does not hold great collectable value and would probably be worth more dismantled and sold as individual parts. The magazine is probably worth as much as the rest of the rifle.
