Just bought this yesterday Cooper model 21 19-223 Calhoon came with 300 rounds ready to shoot box’s and box’s of bullets go no go gauges bench rest dies all for 2g not quite sure what I was getting into, well! Holy hell does this thing shoot first 8 shots was dialing in and fouling then it happened and man did it happen!
Conditions were windy and starting to rain and im shooting off bags on the hood of my chev tracker distances 130y 1/8 to 1/4 inch well I’m impressed just want to know if anyone else has one of these.
Just looking for any input or opions for further development thanks.

JD Calhoon sold double hollowpoint bullets here in Alberta in the 80's before moving to Montana where he has championed his .19 caliber bullets and various wildcats.People seem to like them.

Lucky me, was just getting to know CZ 527 rifles about 15 years ago understood from many sources mostly in the Usa what a truly fine rifle they are. So boom some fella in Red Deer and beautiful piece of walnut on some kind of a stainless barrel with a name I never heard of before . Dies , brass ammo, and some extra Double hollow points in 28 and 32 grain, complete pkg. i was so in love with that piece of Walnut I immediately bought the rifle, then asked the fellow What's a 19 Calhoon.......LOL. A 19 calhoon as it turned out is a phenomenol varmint round superbly accurate and came with from the wildcatter complete reloading information. I have killed many gophers with it and shot some impressive groups at the range with it, a gun that will likely be the last piece I ever sell.
Since buying this CZ 527 I felt the need to buy many more of them, all superb shooters.......FS

19-Calhoon

I’m looking forward to stretching this thing out! would they be good out to 350-400 yards?I would imagine there pretty sensitive.
I’m thinking I better stock up on bullets though I’ll have to get ahold of this fella and see what it’s like getting those sent in to Canada I’ve never direct ordered bullets from the states.
Sadly the dollar is really going to make them that much more as well I’m looking into the 1000 pack 32g seams to shoot this well.
Have you ordered bullets direct from the south? What’s the best route.
Thanks for any reply.

From Alberta! Hope he still has trips up this way for getting ammo up here I think this is going to be a great peace lol already had some good offers.

I have some of Calhoon's double HP bullets in .224 diameter.
They are definitely a cut above ordinary offerings. My 222
will group 5 in 1/4 to 1/3 of an inch consistently if I do my
part. Dave.

The 19 cals are something I have never been able to wrap my head around. Ive been told "they fill the gap between the .17 cals and .20 cals perfectly" although I didnt know that was a gap that ever needed to be filled and bullet selection is always limited. But it seems like you got an excellent score with your but! It would make an excellent gopher gun! And it seems like you have enough bullets to last a long while!

Rayner used to bring in the Calhoun bullets. I had the first 19 Badger registered in Canada and it did really great out to 400 yards on gophers. Bucked the wind much better than a 223 with 40 grain bullets. Your 19-223 will do even better. I have a few of the 32 Blitz Kings if you would like to try them.
