Mid 80's would be a dash 5 without the pinned barrel and recessed cylinder feature. If it's P&R it's a dash 4 or earlier manuf. before '82
The S&W Combat Magnum (aka model 19 & 66) K frame revolvers are sought after and owners tend to keep them, that probably why you don't see too many of them on the EE.
You'll never see one for sale for under $600 unless it's a very worn beater. If in very good condition you're looking at $700++ in today's market.

P&R means pinned and recessed. Barrel is pinned at the front of the forcing cone under the top strap of the frame and the chambers of the cylinder are counterbored.
