19 more italian garand rear sight assembly available

That's him... get those sights IF you need them. Don't rush out and spend your money (unless it's practice ammo for my Service Rifle matches).

Hey, TON45 !! If you are reading this post, DON'T buy ONE set of these sights.

Buy TWO of them !!

For those of you who don't know the story (hijack alert !) , Ton45 showed up at a May or Jun match in Connaught with his box stock Norinco-Stinko M14 and shot with us. By July of 2007 Match, he won Top TYRO with over 500 points and kicked my hairy ass!

He's freaking good shooter !! And he's lurking around here. Not bad for an IPSC pistolero !!

Cheers,
Barney

has anyone received thier sight from the first auction he put up? be interested on hearing some feedback.... but i'm gonna order one anyways ;)

What? What did I miss? Thanks for the kind words Barney. I just took the little Chinese blood I have left and mind-melded with the spirit of the chinese metal and chu-wood. That was my secret. Love that chu-wood. Maybe I'll get better luck if I buy that Italian sight since my wife is Italian.:)

are the Norinco ones really that bad?

im not looking to win any benchrest or beauty competitions here, just want something passable for plinking and possibly hunting.
if the stock M-305 rear sight is crap ill order a replacement, if its fine as is then i wont.

can anyone clarify plz?

Hey MBP

If your sights work then don't replace 'em. My brother's stock sights work fine but mine were stripped when they arrived (the thread was flattened, obviously from some sort of impact before it was assembled). I want to keep one with iron sights and get the second one scoped and this is a good deal so hopefully it's in my mailbox tonight.

cheers!

What I think you may find is that the original norinco sights are good enough (hopefully) to adjust into position for a fixed point of aim. Where they probably fail is for the shooter that needs sights made well enough to stand up to constant adjustment for windage and elevation, as these sights were intended.

nah, ill just sight it in at 100 yards and leave it, just hold over for everything else. i dont see the point of adjusting sights for general plinking and hunting use -- i mostly shoot .308 and .223 so i know roughly how much they drop for hunting and plinking purposes.

everyone scrambling to get these Garand sights just made me jump to the conclusion that the stock 'Rinco sights were so bad that theyd be all over the place, heh. as long as they hold zero and are relatively sturdy i dont mind if they arent 'match quality'.

i dont know if they 'work' yet - i am still waiting for shipment on the rifle :)
thats why i as asking how bad they were. cant find a clear high-res close-up of them on the web.

The iron sights on mine are excellent in terms of looking through them. I've grown to like peep sights, and was thrilled to be hitting the 200 yard gong using them. The elevation adjustment seems good on mine, but the windage adjustment feels like its about to jump a tooth or something. Does not feel like a well machined gear. But as I said, unless you plan to move them about, as long as you get them set, you should be ok.

The stock sight on mine is crap. Windage changes with elevation - you can watch the post veer left. That and the windage knob feels stripped or something. Oh yeah...the hole in the peep is off centre too.
