1909 Argentine Mauser 7.65x53 ARG

Lovely rifles those were/are.

Nice cartridge, too: easy to make, load with .303 components, accurate as all get-out.... and that Mauser rifling likes the 174 BTM bullet.

Should be in the white like the one in the pictures (top).

As Smellie said, they are easy to reload for with 303 components, and with trimmed 7mm Mauser or 30/06 cases.

The 7.65 is a tad longer than a .308W but also has more taper.

If you size a batch of fired .308W brass in 7.65 dies, often a couple of passes is all it takes to stretch the necks enough. Much of the extra brass comes from adding taper to the case, pushing the extra brass forward. You only NEED 2mm, remember.

Something to do with all that Federal Gold Medal Match brass the SWAT teams throw away on your range.

"...reloading for this cartridge is no big deal..." Norma makes brass and ammo. As does Privi. I think dies are a special order thing from RCBS. I'm fairly sure there data in my Lyman book.

I think that just bout everybody makes dies for this cartridge, even Lee Precision (cheapest available).

Easy cartridge to reload.

If you are converting cases from .308W, just make sure that the rounds are UNDER the extractor on first firing. That way you will have NO troubles.

VERY much under-rated rifle/cartridge combination.
