1911 10 round 9mm mags

...I feel like I've heard half a conversation.. What issue does there exist with Tripp 9mm mags?

I contacted Tripp for Cobra mags and asked for his opinion on the issue.

He told me one very important thing that I need to share with everyone here:
1. Cobra mags are designed and manufactures for higher mag catch (mag release) because they see more and more people using those.
2. So, a high mag catch (mag release), such as from EGW will treat the issue.

I ordered EGW from Brownells. Had to fill out their silly form to release the order. Though there is an exception on exports of gun parts up to $500 now, they are still required to keep the form on file.
I've had no issues with them in a stock spartan, so not sure how much the higher mag catch design effect them, if at all. Need to order some metal base pads this week... I have 2 sets of mag but I just like shiny

My buddy and I had the Wilson's. Both sold them all to get Tripp's. If you want no hassles with FTF/FTE go with Tripp Cobra 9mm mags.

Absolutely the best mags out there. Even runs flawlessly on my NP29!

The issue for ME with Tripp Cobra 9mm mags is that the 10th round (top loaded round) nose dives almost every single time in my 1911. After a call to Tripp, I was advised that their mags are made for high mag release / mag catch, not for a normal mag height release.

And I am having 100% issues with them in my STOCK STI. No two 1911s are the same, I guess, even of the same make.

Not sure if we are talking about the same mags. I'm talking about Tripp Cobra mags in 9 mm 10-round ones. I load them to capacity, insert in my stock 1911 and every single time it nose dives the first round. 9th round has 50/50 chance of nose diving, after 9th, everything else goes well.

Tripp...have 9 of them and they run like tops.

Thanks,
Cal.

Anyhow, I ordered higher mag release and a bunch of Wilson Combat mags. Will see if other mags or in combination with higher mag catch will do the trick.

If Wilsons work better for me, you will very soon see a bunch of Cobra mags for sale here :)

If somebody needs them here, let me know. Will unload to a happy soul here.

Updated report - higher mag release does not work with fully-loaded mag and one in the chamber. You just can't slam them in.
So, I sold Wilsons and got back to Cobra mags.
The problem with feeding was related to shorter bullet length of lighter 9 mils.
