Afternoon classic 1911 experts.

Picked up the beautiful Commercial 1911 (Manufactured 1914 SN C66**) at auction today for a steal 400 bucks (Business licence so it gets to stay in one piece).

I ordered the letter from Colt for it but my research is showing by the SN it could have been included in the 5000 gun CEF contract.

The rear sight is obviously aftermarket and the front sight had a bad day.

Overall the gun looks to be in great shape, I would like to replace the rear sight with something more period correct and the replace the front sight.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what the period correct sights would be for this gun.

It should have a half-moon rear sight but they started transitioning to squared rear sights near the end of the Canadian serial range. This change gradually as stocks of parts were used up. Mine is lettered, it's the highest serialed Canadian-contract 1911 I have seen and it has a squared rear sight.

I have a WW1 era 1911 that had very similar aftermarket sights, with the front sight being extremely tall and goofy looking. Got replacement sights off Brownells.
