1911 .22 conversion kits?

Does anyone know of a source in Canada or the will ship to Canada?

I have a Norinco 1911A1 government that I would like to convert to shoot .22lr.

Any help would be appreciated.

or you could just buy a 1911 in .22LR - look at Blue Line, they'll be having a GSG-1911 very soon, like within a few weeks. sub-$400 as well, which is nice.

you can find the kimber kits in edmonton, i'm pretty sure they'll fit on a norinco but i've heard grumblings that they might not work proper

They work flawlessly if you read the manual that comes with them and select your ammunition accordingly. The only people that I have known to have problems with the Kimber kit were illiterate and were waiting until the movie comes out!!

I got a Kimber .22 Conversion in the mail today. Fit and finish seems to be really good.

I will let you know how it shoots tomorrow night.

i ordered one of the Kimber 22lr kits from Cabelas. It was delivered in about a week. I just got it in Jan. It works very well. I put it on a kimber pistol, but i believe it will work on most 1911's. I have put over 2000 rnds through it so far. There is a set screw under the rear sight to keep it tight in the dove tail. Mine came loose or was loose and i didn't notice it for a bit. I snugged it up and added a drop of locktite. That was the only problem i have had with it. They will not shoot low velocity rnds reliably. ( I had to try) cci stingers work great, most high velocity rounds will work well. If you lube the hell out of the rails and manually rack the slide a couple hundred times it helps with break in. I did and it works great. My only complaint is that it doesn't lock the slide after the last rnd. Really not an issue count your rnds. Good product for sure.

Train with your same trigger and feel of your go to 1911 lower in .45. Use the same holster same "tap rack bang" sequence of events for jams and clearing.

No one gets a 1911 conversion kit for accuracy, they get it to plink cheaper and practice for less money on the same gun more or less.

While there is some merit to that you'd really have to shoot a 1911 that has a good quality .22 conversion unit on it to know why those with .22 conversion units swear by the.m

I have a Ruger MkII 5.5" bull barrel and a MkIII 22/45 4.5" barrel dedicated .22 lr pistols but I have to say my Colt .22 unit is still my favorite...

Got to take it to the range today, and I was really happy with it.

I started out with the .22 kit on it, put down about 200 rounds. Yellow Jacket rounds performed admirably through the kit, with only a single Fail to Feed. Groupings averaged about 3-4" at 15 meters, which for me ( a relatively novice shooter) is really good.

The .45 slide is where the Kimber simply shone though. I was getting consistant 3" groups with it for the 80 rounds I fired. I simply love it. There is absolutley no comparison with it to my old Norinco, the Kimber is just so much better built in every way.

I would have taken the target home to post pics, but I peppered it with birdshot while trying out my Norinco 780 homeland express. (Not impressed. Only shotgun I have ever seen that has massive issues with the shell stops and ejector from a new in the box gun. Avoid at all costs.)

I will snap some photos next time.

You might not win any rapid fire pistol matches with them, but you'll know them a lot better, you'll take them out more often, and you'll shoot them more - and longer - than you'll ever even think about your, um..."less-practical" target pistols.

Even at twice the price it would be money well-spent.
