The gun: Chiappa Arms 1911/22. Approx. 1000 rounds through it.

The problem: Discovered a cylinder, maybe 5/32" diameter about the same length, in the hammer. It's the part that actually strikes the firing pin. It fell out.

Discovered this at the range. really pissed off, drove home. Looked at the parts blowout in the manual, it's not shown. Looked at the parts blowout on Chiappa's website, there it is. Part 44.

Sent an e-mail looking for a replacement. Two weeks ago, still haven't heard back (go figure).

Questions:
1- is this a common problem?
2- is this an easily improvised part (as in, will I be able to find one or does it HAVE to come from Chiappa?)

Was cleaning up my workbench, lo and behold, FOUND THE DAMN PART. It's a snug fit back in.

Question: Is it reasonable to glue it in with JB Weld or something to keep this from ever, ever, happening again? Would the repercussions outweigh any benefit of this? (Such as having to replace that part if it wears).

Thanks in advance for the advice.
