The Sig Tacops really impressed me in term of value. You get top specs for a reasonable price. The only thing that worries me is the external extractor but Sig made their homework. You could find a used one for 1200$.

In that range, you are talking mid pack of the quality 1911 range. STI, used SIG, S&W, Ruger, used Colts, Remington and many others have models in this price range.
Look for features you like on a 1911. Like ambi safety? External or internal extractor? Full or regular guide rod? Go from there.
STi, SIG and Colt would be my choice.

i have a Ruger SR1911 CMD and its a nice shooter.
my dad has a Kimber Pro Carry he got for 1200 but i think they sell for up around 1700 in todays prices.
if you stick to Ruger, Remmy or STI even a Sig or S&W if you can find one your gonna be good.
with the black friday sale coming up you might find a retailer with one cheap.

picked me up a Kimber base model that gun is tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight, by far my fav 1911.
but i will agree with you the CMD 1911 is super nice.
i didnt get my first CMD size till after i had already picked up about a dozen normal sized 1911's and i find it real hard to go back to the full sized ones now.
oh, SAM Tactical Commander was a real steal of a deal but i dont think they are around anymore?
maybe double check Wolverine to see about that SAM, or Seraphim Arms Ghost (same gun) or even the Crusader.
Ruger CMD from Shooters Choice is in stock, its the same one i have and love.

i have both the SR1911 and the SR1911 CMD and they are both fine guns and i enjoy them very very much.
but that Remington looks verrrrrrrrrrrrrry nice!

you should look around and see who else has the Ruger SR1911 CMD in stock and see if you can find a new one that is old stock - price should be around $200 cheaper.
i know i paid just over $800 for mine and paying over $1000 for it now is pretty steep!
