Im shooting classic this year and bought an STI 1911... very pleased with performance of the 1911, not so happy about the plastic bottom mags...

Im sure if I were shooting outside these mags would last forever, I've got no problem with with the performance of the mags... but... I shoot indoors at this time of year..and dropping mags on concrete is hard enough on mags with metal bottoms... Ive busted the plastic bottoms of several mags now and it appears that mag parts are hard to find. (anyone able to suggest a dealer who will bring in low margin parts like these ?)

Could someone recommend a mag that can take a few good hits on a concrete floor ?

Wilson or Tripp.
McCormick is popular but not in Wilson class.
I have one Ed Brown, it is OK, better then Chippy, but not as good as Wilson.

Tripp sells aluminum base pads for their mags.

Order direct from Tripp. They will break up your order (into <$100 increments) to comply with US export laws.

I really like kimber kim-pro tac mags. They are stainless tubes with steel followers and come with 2 sizes of hard rubber bumper pads.
