I currently have a 1911 in 45, what I am wondering if I had a complete top end in 9mm (ie slide, barrel, etc..) could I just slide it on the frame designed for the 45 and start shooting.

I haven't heard people doing this, so I'm thinking there is a reason but, but I thought I'd ask.

however, if you had a commander.....- there was an article in an old g&a where they took a colt commander in 38 super and changed it into an amazing 5 guns-38super, 9mm, 22, 45, and a thing called a 38/45 clerke- it's a bottle necked 45/38 super- all that was needed were appropriate slides and mags

I took a couple pictures of my latest project.
It is fully functional. Though it still needs final polishing and finish.
I gotta put some decent sights on this pistol.:p

Since there seems to be some interest.
I thought I would post some pics of the ejector modification and a comparison to the stock ejector.

Stock on the left, modified on the right.
Ejectorcomparisonweb.jpg

A side view of the modified ejector.
Ejectorsideweb.jpg

The stock ejector side to side thickness, measures .067".
The modified ejector measures .050" nominally, with a slight taper toward the nose of the extractor, where it comes in at .046"

The length measured at the top of the ejector.
Stock 1.230"
Modified 1.018"

This thinned ejector has ejected several thousand .45ACP, .38 Special wadcutter, .38 Super, 9mm without complaint. it is a Norinco part.

Turn your target thumping NP-29 into a bear stopper, with a .45 top-end shooting the .45-08 Armco round.:D

Hope this helps.

Very nice....

Would this work easier using a Norc .45 and putting the .9mm .38 slide on it?
Is that possible?

I have to get my 45 out and look at the pics closer.
