Hey everyone...

Thinking about putting new sites on my 1911. Its a nickel plated Norc (the Norinconia..hahaha).

Wondering about the most cost effective way to do it. Am seriously considering a Burris fastfire - but - unsure how they mount, and wondering if there are more cost effective options...PS I hate the B-Square mount....fugly.

Burris is a good choice if you want a red dot style sight. You can mount it on a rail, OR you can get an adapter that fits a standard 1911 dovetail. (I'm not sure if Norcs use the standard dovetail or not) You remove the stock sites, install the adapter in the dovetail and then bolt the sight to the adapter. My GF has one on her ruger mark III and it's pretty slick.

Get the Brownells 1911 catalog. There are many different parts options. Armco, Bits of Pieces, Dark, Dlask and Omega have some gunsmithing rates posted online. This will give you an idea of what things cost.

IMO, the most cost effective option might involve buying a different pistol.

IIRC all of the norc 1911s were made on the original machines, so the dovetail should fit.

there are SEVERAL rear sight cut types.

Just bought a burris fastfire myself, the mount I was first suggested turned out to be wrong, so had to call in and switch my order. (STI 1911 however)

check several websites to be sure, here is what I did:

-called Burris
-contact by e-mail STI
-contacted gunnar
-ordered at P&D
-looked at diagrams from Midway USA and Brownells, and found out I ordered the wrong mount.
-called back P&D to make the correction

edit: just looked at pics of your gun
IMHO you'll need the 410321 Mount - 1911 Standard

the main problem with mine is that I needed the Kimber one (bomar sight cut), but on midwayusa's website and burris's technical data, Bomar was with Novak, which is really not the same sight cut, they should correct it and make all their numbers match. When I called burris, the tech said he didnt have access to the mount's specs so he couldn't help me out.
