Colt series "70" or a WW2 Remington Rand -both classic guns featuring good old fashioned "craftsmanship" sadly lacking in today's mass production guns... glitzty looking exterior - crude rough interior where it really counts...
 
Obviously budget is a big part in answering your question. Because you mention Sig I'm assuming you are looking in that "just above 1K to just below 2K" mid range segment but not getting into the higher end stuff like Les Baer or Ed Brown. If I am correct I'd suggest also looking at the STI line. I have a .45 Trojan (around $1400 retail) that I like very much.

That has my vote as well very pleased with it..
 
I really like the SIGs too but if you can get a Canadian made Para you are getting a lot of gun for the money.

Has to be Canadian made though.
