does it really make any difference to replace barrels in a 1911, swap the factory one with a match/ comptation one?

There is a significant difference between comparing my Norc 5" barrel vs my match and fitted Fusion Firearms (I think its a rebranded Stormlake). The difference may not be evident at short distances, but at 20m and beyonds there is differenc.

"...fitted barrel..." This being the key. A drop in barrel isn't quite the same.

If I was going to spend the money on quality 1911 barrel (which I did) I would definitely want oversized barrel fitted by a gunsmith.
