1911 barrels

ok dumb question perhaps, but i just want to make sure that a 1911 A1 barrel would work in a pre A1 1911.

There were some changes from the 1911 to the 1911A1 but the barrel is the same.

Well it'll "work", but will it be accurate? Not unless it is properly fitted. But mil-grade (6 inches at 50 ft) may be enough.
