Quick question;

I noticed in the pictures thread of the 1911's that the Norinco's that have an aftermarket beavertail tend to fit poorly.

Is the tang on the Chinese frame nonstandard? or is it just the beavertail the owner chose doesn't require reshaping of the frame?

What you're probably referring to is the stock Norinco beavertail issued on some spiffied up models. They fit VERY poorly, and it's because they take 38 seconds to install a part I charge a hundred bucks to fit correctly. They use a grinder/belt sander. Looks OKfrom twenty feet :)

With some beavertails you do need to do a little welding on the Norinco frame to eliminate gaps and lumps.

If a kitchen table hack like me can install a beavertail Grip Safety on a Norinco that looks like this, imagine how good it looks when a professional 'smith like Gunnar does it: ;)

Some day I'm going to send it up to Gunnar for refinishing. :D
