I've always gone with a 1911 old style with bushing. Most are full length guide rod ,but I'm ok either way. There's something about
the barrel rubbing directly on the slide during cycling that I just can't get around. I've seen all the big makers that offer guns with reverse guide rods
if they have them show the benefits of those bull barrels but the thought of wear directly on the slide vs a bushing ...... what are your thoughts? I've been told that there is minimal contact. Gunsmiths please weigh in
