So i'm looking to grab a new 1911, but i've become picky over the years. I do know what details I'm looking for, but not the models. If you could please take a look over the following and help me out with my options, i'd be greatly appreciative:

- Gov't size
- Parkerized
- Commander hammer
- Tight fit
- Combat sights (Love my Novaks) - DON'T WANT ADJUSTABLES
- Metal mainspring housing and trigger
- between $900 and $1200
- NOT a Taurus

I know that's a pretty tall order, but it has gotten a little hard. Love the Springer loaded PX9019, but struggling with the frame-slide fit.

Would love the help from some of the experts on the site.

Cheers,
M

spartan has adjustable sights, plastic trigger, plastic mainspring housing, nothing that cant be updated though

Three Norinco 1911A1's? :p

NAA.

A NIB Colt Series 70 just came up for sale on the board. Anybody out there know if it is worth the $1500 plus shipping.

One of my first choices was a Kimber, but we won't be getting anymore in Canada due to demand in the USA, as well as a lack of distribution here. Para has had some horrible service over the years, and my friends GI finish is almost all gone.

Kimbers also have PLASTIC mainspring housings (at least the ones between $900-$1200 do).

Let us know what you find... pretty much impossible.

Tuned up, Norc 1911C ''Commander'', trigger job, Trijicon night sights + some filing down.. and of course the 8rd Wilson Combat mags are a must.

I've come to the conclusion that I won't find anything with that criteria for anything shy of $1200. Again, I love Kimber but we won't be getting any more in Canada for some time. So now i'm sitting on either a Sig Revolution Nitron, Springfield Loaded (px1909 - unless I hear something horrible), or go slightly smaller and grab an STI Ranger.

The Springer is my number one for a matter of features and price, but i'm slightly weary of the loose Brazilian frame/slide fit though. Such a hard call on that gun. I'd go for a mil-spec, but i'll have to tune the Hell out of it. High-ride, commander hammer, and wedge sights....almost not worth it at that point. Should be killing me, but i'm having a hard time finding that perfect fit.

Check out that NIB Colt Night Commander in the EE for $2800. Every Colt collector should have one in their collection. My preference is for the stainless Springfield.

My first was a Kimber TLE RLII (Swat) model, very good pistol but overrated for the money..If I would go that route again, I would definitely go Springfield Armoury.

Again for $350 you could get a Norc, actually might as well get 2 just for the parts & mods..and just add on what you please afterwards.

I just picked up a Colt Gold Cup, it has everything on your list covered except for the adjustable sight. It's a bit over your max price at $1540.... taxes in.

Unfortunatly I can't tell ya where to find one..... and mine is not for sale :D

Cheers!

Take a look at the Kimber line of 1911s; I two and they are very nice. If my name was GHYSOW, I would also look at Dan Wesson and the STI lines. Regards, Richard:)

I have a Kimber Custom similar to this but with adjustable sights and it is a fine shooter:

The base model Dlask 1911 goes for a little more than your budget at $1250. Otherwise, you could probably have a Norinco built to your specs within your budget.

I wouldn't get too bent out of shape over loose slide to frame fit, as it has little effect on accuracy. Barrel to slide and bushing fit are far more important. Also, keep in mind that tight slide to frame fit will make the gun more sensitive to fouling buildup.
