Hi use my springfield 1911 for work (bear defence, bush use), i clean my gun often using the field strip method, however i have ran into the problem of rust in the trigger mech. and am wondering what is the best method of solving this problem? Can i reach this area by removing the grips or is it more in depth then that? Is Break clean a good idea?

Thanx
Rob

Don't be afraid, get a manual and strip it down. (With the guidance of the manual you'll remove mainspring housing, grip safety, thumb safety, hammer assembly and sear, magazine catch, and trigger.) Clean off the rust with oil and fine steel wool.

And in future -to prevent rust- drown it in BreakFree.
