How and what do you guys use to properly lube your 1911's?

I have been sitting here with my new sig 1911 and I have greased all the points they told me to but I still can feel metal grabbing somewhere.

I am also using motor craft general purpose grease(I was recommended to us it).

Any guidance would be much appreciated at this point I'm going nuts!

grease or lube won't prevent metal from catching or grabbing, it sounds like you might have a burr somewhere or the fit is a bit too tight.

personally, i use kerosene for cleaning, wet sandpaper (w/ kerosene) to smooth out surfaces, and synth oil & synth grease for lubrication

With a clean gun, just put a bead of grease on the front edge of the frame rail, and a thin film on the barrel lug where it makes contact with the slide stop.

If you are taking apart the frame, put a tiny bead of grease on the pad of the disconnector where it makes contact with the rear of the trigger bow, and a thin film on the hammer hooks.

I don't put oil or grease on the tip of the disconnector where it sticks up through the frame, nor do I put oil on the trigger or it's bow. SOme may disagree, but I found it better to keep these surfaces clean and dry, rather than oily and potentially collecting dirt.
