1911 Colt just finished

This is a 1911 that I have just finished. All the internal parts are from Wilson Combat as well as the mag well , safety and grip safety. I have checkered the main spring housing and front strap @ 30 lpi. I have undercut the rear of the trigger guard to allow a higher grip. A new series 80 barrel and bushing have also been added.The finish is rust blued, however my photo skills don't show it to it's advantage!

Who did the front strap checkering? I am looking to do it on my Kimber, not my colt...
You have a very nice Colt there.

That is a nice looking 1911 even compared to the latest "Bling" guns coming out these days.
I bought a 1911 which was made in 1917 and someone had changed the sights to adjustable target type and the original grips were gone,I don't think I can restore the sights because a dovetail was cut into the slide in the front. The collector value is gone on this one as well. I am going to keep it in it's present condition as it shows lots of nice wear as a result of being shot a lot. This is a shooter not a Safe Queen.:shotgun:

Nice work, very good fitting on the beavertail and exceptionallly nice checkering. Checkering is one of those things that you don't get a "do-over" on, you must get it right first time - great work.

Thank you for the kind words!! I have been checkering these for some time now and it does get easier! ha I have to re blue this gun as there are a couple of spots where the rusting got away from me. The pics don't show it ,but it is there. Now just need a warm day to put it on a target.

Like PF, I usually wince when I see a WWI vintage 1911 that has been worked over. But you are correct, if it was already polished & reblued with the "collector value" gone it's a candidate for a project gun.

It does still have very nice original markings, though.... slide script [both sides], inspector proof above the mag release on the frame, as well as the US property script on the forward dust cover and even the serial number looks nice & crisp.

Your custom work looks great. Should be a great shooter.

The checkering job is really well done and will provide a good grip.I am curious about how it is done as it is so precise....is this a trade secret??

Thankyou !!!!!!!!! No trade secret just good tools from Brownells and I must admit a call a long time ago to the folks at WilsonCombat for advise
