I know that some of you will be "what's the point?" on this one, but 4.2" revolvers come with proper target sights, so why not the 1911 Commander?

I'm not looking for some sort of adjustable Novak pattern sight. I *hate* the look and presentation of combat sights.

So, couple questions. Has anyone seen a 1911 out side of the realm of custom guns that features an LPA style target sight on a Commander sized pistol?

Or

How much will my gun smith hate me if I hand over a slide with GI or Novak sights and ask for a low profile LPA cut and installation?

this is the concept, but I'd want the sight right at the rear of the slide...and not an officer sized frame.

Colt used to make a Commander Gold Cup, with an Eliason rear sight. It was a limited edition. There's no reason it wouldn't work with a Bo Mar sunk into the slide, as long as there's enough meat to make the cut. A decent smith should be able to the job for you.

What exactly are you looking for? White dot front sight, black notch rear or black front post and black rear notch, three dot combo or something else?

I had Roger Kotanko put an adjustable rear sight on a Norc 5" 1911 before they came with the adjustable sights. I am sure he would be happy to take your money and do the same to a commander slide for you.
