Hey 1911 guru's I'm in the market for another pistol and I've narrowed my search down to two 1911's. I'm comparing the Kimber Custom TLE/RL II and the Sig Sauer Tactical Op. The Sig is actually cheaper, and has a few more features, so I'm trying to get a feel for why that might be. The Sig comes with 3 mags vs 1 from Kimber. The Sig has an extended magwell, ambi safety, better grips and Novak NS's. Alot more bang for the buck with the Sig, so it seems.

Thoughts?

I have a SIG SS with novak night sights....l love it have no complaints...

I think with 2 great mfgr's such as sig and kimber it's going to come down to personal preference..

I was in the same situation a month ago and decided to pull the trigger on a Kimber Tactical Customer HD II. I'm sure you cant go wrong either way. However, IMPO the Kimber is a nice gun...a more true 1911 in my eyes.

Cheers,

i agree with turillo i think the kimber looks more like a true 1911 compared to the sig i also own a kimber 1911 and a sig p226 platinum elite both manufacture a nice gun with good fit and finish but i think the kimber does a nicer job with the 1911 then sig IMO

Boston you already know my opinion, I don't really get that a kimber is a more true 1911 that's BS IMHO, and to answer you question about the match barrel YES it does, I was actually looking at one of those sigs and there nice but I already have the twin blackwaters which are full size, questar has one TO and an RCS think I'm going to go with the RCS, you should do what you want you've already flogged your old kimber and have handled my sigs you know what the right decision is, BTW this is my biased opinion

I used to like Sig 1911 until a saw a brand new premium model with rust on the feed ramp, frame and barrel. The trigger was very rough for the price tag and they fit very poorly in a plastic hostler. They beautiful though.

I have the tactical operations and I love it.

The only complaint I have is that the factory sig magazines are not that tough, other than that the pistol is excellent.

and my vote goes to....KIMBER because looks, feel and shoot like a real 1911 pistol!
I have a lot of SIGs, but I'm not happy with the the external extractor and shape of slide on SIG 1911's pistols....my 2c

Just curious, what about Sig's external extractor makes you unhappy? The nontraditional slide, I understand. But I haven't actually heard about any failures of the Sig extractor.

It is the best feeling 1911 in my hands. I tried a number of different 1911's, but thankfully Sig was the one I liked best... and I only have handguns made by Sig :D

You also can't argue with the price tag either, ($1,213) theres alot of features built into this sweet package for the money. In the end, that's what made the decision for me. I'm a sucker for value...

The only mistake I made, was buying mine at a retail outlet, for retail price... Said and done with taxes in, it was a $1600 pistol. Still worth every penny though. Plus the sig styled slide is far more attractive than the rounded 1911 slide.

Geez 1600? See thats what I figured the price of this gun would be, based on it's features. So naturally when I saw the price at $1213 I had to jump on it. The funny thing is that price is the same MSRP on Sig's website. I think what you meant is you payed Canadian MSRP. :bsFlag: That's the nice thing about Questar all there Sig's prices are American MSRP. Oh well, you win some you loose some, and I've lost my fare share... Glad to hear you like yours though, I can't wait.

Find a good one for 900 bones and spend a few bucks get it tightened up, smoothed out, trigger job etc. and you'll be SO much happier.
