Hey guys,
My .40 trojan slide is cutting my strong thumb up each range session.
I know of thumb shields and have tried one, do not like em.
My 9mm ranger is set the same way and has never done this to me in the last 10K rounds.
Have any of you had your slide releived at an angle so the strong serations dont catch your thumb?

I ride the safety, thumb is too close to slide while doing so. The serrations on my 40 are sharp and catchy compared to my 9mm.
Which i also shoot riding the safety with my thumb real close to slide.

Thats what i am thinking too.
Has anyone done this or had it done? I would sure like to hear about someone elses experience on this.

I never use rear serrations so I would just mill them right off.

my 1911s dont have finish in that area anymore from my thumb rubbing lol, never hurt my thumb though

Exactly, my ranger ll finish wore off where the thumb rests.
And just to give a bit of context, i work construction im not an office guy. (Rough hands as opposed to smooth silky fingers)
First 150 rounds get thru the thick skin, the other 100 get me hurting, the last 50 get me bleeding lol
And going to the range each week makes it never fully heal before i give er more!

I could try some soft dremel stuff to start off with to try to vet the edges off a bit though

Edit : yeah if i knew it was this simple i wouldnt of started a thread
Used a dremel with a steel wool attachment on rear LH serrations and finished it by hand with 1000 grit paper
With the slide off, if i rub the LH side on my forearm its all smooth, on RH side of slide i can almost cut my forearm!
Cycled the slide holding my already cut thumb real tight on slide, no additional pain

Well thats the thing, 2x 1911s, same manufacturer, same grips, same serrations and same hold.
One was fine and one cut me up, i would not think that wiring myself to hold it different would of been proficient.
As you said, too late now lol. And until the gun gets a refinish, i have also put a dent in resale value in the event.

sounds like that was a good solution, I guess the edges just needed to be broken a little, or maybe the factory was lazy that day and didnt throw it in the deburring machine for as long as usual
