Hi,folks!
I just pick up my first Colt 1911 pistol and I try to find how to take it apart....
I understand that it must be pretty easy when you know how.But im my case NO RESULT!
Can anyone give me some tips how to do that?

Thanks in advance
Zygy

pretty easy..just be careful not to scratch the frame while inserting the slide release pin (term?)...I put a lame mark on my Combat Comander (my dads at the time) a lifetime ago while learning the procedure. Make sure the notch is aligned and the barrel etc... is in the correct position..u will know as the spring will launch at your face :)and it can be a bit frustrating at first( well as a child anyway :)) After the barrel, and spring are inserted i like to filp it and depress the slide at the rear...seems to made it easy to insert the slide pin (term) easier, faster and not scratch the frame....

while my gun terms may suck, but i can do this with my eyes closed....go slow...practice and it will become second nature...

the take down and assembly is a snap once you have done it a few times.
1) first off pull your slide back so the small rounded cut on the left of the slide lines up with the slide lock. push the pin end of the slide lock from the right to the left and the slide lock should come free of the pistol frame. this will also free the recoil spring guide and spring.
2) take the receiver (lower) and with the hammer in the cocked position move your safety lock to the middle of it's range of movement and it should come free of the pistol frame.
3) ease the hammer down to the uncocked postion and push the hammer pin from right to left and out of the frame, this will free the plunger tube detents and spring as well.
4) push the mainspring housing pin out of the frame from right to left and remove housing, grip safety and sear spring.
5) push the sear pin ( near hammer pin) from right to left and out of the frame. this will free the sear and disconnector and they will drop out.
6) mag catch is removed by pushing to the approx 1/2 way point and using the middle leaf of your sear spring, turn the small screw that is the mag catch lock. the mag catch should pull free to the right.
7) with mag catch removed, trigger should slide right out rearward.

slide is pretty staright forward, push in your firing pin from the rear and firing pin stop can be slide down and out of slide, freeing firing pin and spring, extractor needs to be pried rearward and out of slide.
to remove barrel, push the recoil spring plug, under muzzle, inward and rotate the barrel bushing and it will slide forward and away from the slide. you can now slide the barrel forward and out of the slide.

putting it back together with proper sear disconnector placement is the part you may have trouble with without a detailed diagram of how these two parts operate in correlation to the hammer.

Note*** all pins must be removed from the left side if you are looking at the frame from the rear, pushing them from the right hand side., mainspring housing pin at bottom rear of frame is the only exception

My first and only 1911 is a Kimber Eclipse with that damn matte black finish all over the gun, I tell you that was a delight to learn how to take apart. Your fingernail can scratch that finish!

Detail Stripping a 1911 Pistol...

Yeah, and when you finally learn how to 'detail' strip your 1911 practice until you can do it in the dark blindfolded. ;) :p

*LOL* Glad I am not the only one with that problem. When I bought my first 1911, the seller sent it to me disassembled and I had no bloody idea how to put it back together (a tad more complicated than the tupperware I was used to :D). I must admit that for the time, the 1911 was a rather ingenius piece of hardware :D
