Does anyone in Canada sell a 1911 parts kit with all the common pins, bushings, springs, etc.? If not, is it possible to buy one in the US and bring it back, assuming you're under the $100 limit or would things like a spare firing pin be an essential component?

I havent heard of anyone with a ready to go parts kit,but you should be able to make up one yourself,its not a bad idea to have a few spares around.

These are what I would suggest;
extractor,firing pin retainer,recoil spring,slide stop,sear spring,barrel link.These should cover the most common parts,its a good idea to try them out before needing them to make sure they fit and work.

Freedom ventures is a good place to get parts,they stock STI which are top notch quality

Two items that have broken on my 1911's, barrel bushing cracked ,gun kept working but I replaced it and a slide stop had the little tab that holds it in place break off somehow. These I carry spares in case it happens again. Also the slide stop and safety plungers and their spring can easily get lost because they are so small and spring loaded. ww w.brownells.com has kits of all the pins and small springs you need, its called a "REBUILD KIT" $14.95US. If you order from then get their catalog also, it will cost something but it is excellent reference of what is available and they will ship most of what they have to Canada( keep the order under $100), and what requires special permits can maybe be ordered by one of the sponsors at the top of the page.

Go to Brownell's.com and you can buy kits like you described - pin and spring kits are about $15.00. If the total order goes over $100, they'll just make two orders out of it, each less then $100.

I buy from Brownell's all the time - super to deal with in every way, including actual smiths you can talk to live when you call.

Ask them for a catalogue - it is gun parts heaven!

1911 stuff

For springs, try Wolff in the states. They have a wide selection of springs and also sell "calibration paks" for 1911s, Glocks. etc. for people to determine the best srings to work with their handloads. Look at w.gunsprings.com
