For Wildbunch, I recommend a Springfield 1911 A1 G.I.. You use two factory 7 round flush fitting magazines, loaded to 5 rounds. The gun should be as would have existed back in 1911-1913, so as military issue. Also, Para Ordinance is making the official Wildbunch 1911. I am on the list. While an 1897 pump action is ideal (since you load four rounds and stage like a rifle), you can also use the standard SXS until you get one, which you will want to do for sure. I use an 1897 I got from Marstar and love it, it is a chaparral.

You wont go that wrong with a Norinco from Marstar 1911, sorry looks like sold out, but can ask.

Well, you'd be going wrong if you ever wanted to take that Norinco down to the USA to shoot a match. Best to look at the other options listed above (Springfield/Para/STI) and not limit yourself. Nothing wrong with the Norinco, but we didn't make the US rules. BTW, if you go onto the SASS website they have a Wild Bunch handbook that details what mods/features are permitted on the various guns. Gives you an idea of what you should be looking for.

Sorry did not think of that one, will have to remember that one day when I get a chance to go, not to take the Norinco shotguns.

Most 1911's will qualify for one of the two categories. Traditional speaks for itself, any mill.spec 1911 with very little changes. Modern allows some upgrades-rubber grips but no finger grooves, changed grip safetys, triggers, some sights (but not all are allowed so check the handbook) and hammers. All sights with outlines must be blackened. Modern does not allow flared mag wells, mags with extensions or large modified bases. No muzzle comp. allowed.

The Norinco shotguns are allowed into the US. Just note on the ATF form six application they are for sporting use.

I have been taking 97's to the US for about four years for Wild Bunch side matches.

Only the Chinese pistols and rifles are banned. This is a sanction against Norinco which is an export company and not a manufacturer. Too bad cause the "Norinco" 1911 is a good gun.
