Have any of you ever imported an "60%" 1911 frame from the States? What are the rules/procedures, if any?
Thanks in advance

Just to advise, they can't be "sold" here on the CGN Equipment Exchange [aka EE]:

EE rules said:
7. Sales of homemade firearms are not allowed

  • Magazine Kits.
  • "80%" or partially completed receivers or receiver stampings.

NAA.

I am trying to buy from a private seller in the U.S. but neither of us can find any info about import/export of raw castings. Neither of us want any trouble with the law. And yes, I will be registering it before I try to complete it.

Aside from the fun being" build by yourself" It isn't worth to do that, it isn't easy to have the frame machined correctly unless you know all the measurement inside out of the flame.

Thanks for the replies guys but that doesn't help me.

The reason I want one from the States is that everyone up here wants like $200 + shipping. I found a guy in the US that sells them for $125 shipping incl.

We are not try to talk you out of the idea. but understand the frame itself is classfied as firearm, an therefore you are dealing with import and export a firearm, the seller must have export permit or go to a third party lisenced agent to export the frame and you will have to appy all sort of paper work and the time and mioney involved may more than you think.

The unfinished frame is not a firearm until I complete the machining. This is true in both Canada and the US. The problem is the ridiculous laws we both have hidden in fine print, and the Border Nazis' interpretation of those laws.

They have them...ask for Joe. Get him to email you a pic before you buy. You need to be a machinist to finish, I have one as a paperweight, it is not like the 60% in the US.
