1911 frames

in regards to buying parts for swapping
are all 1911 frames the same regardless of model
is the only only diff single or double stack

Full sized frames are essentially identical. Come cosmetic areas may be different. The tang where the beavertail safety sits can have different profiles. Springfield's are small, and leave a gap when fitting some brands.

There are differences, but basically all 1911 single stack frames interchange, barring the barrel cut in supported barrel models.

Also the 'Commander' frames have a dust cover that is slightly shorter than the 'Government' size frames. So it's no problem swapping a Commander slide to a Gov't but if you put a Gov't slide on a Commander frame there'll be a little gap to get you finget pinched. I don't know if the clones use the same sizing; but this is true for series 70 Colts.
