Hey guys, I've got a new Kimber Custom II .45 thats having a bit of a hard time feeding rounds. Out of about 100 that I've shot so far, I've had at least 6 or 7 failures to feed, maybe more.
Im using Chip McCormick 8rnd mags. They were just cheapies from a local shop, I don't know if these are any good?
Anyways, its happened about 3 times on the very first round in the mag. When I hit the slide release, the slide stops about 1/2" before its normal full-forward position. The round is in the chamber, still pointed upwards and not quite fully positioned into the barrel. I've been shooting Winchester flat nose FMJ ammo. I've been able to rack the slide back manually and the next round always feeds fine. Today I fired off a few mags quickly and got another FTF towards the end.
How do I troubleshoot this? Should I try some different mags and maybe different ammo? Can it be the mags causing it, considering that the round is kind of half way to where its supposed to be? I imagine it wouldn't have much to do with the feed ramp or the mags since the rounds are making it half way up.... but I don't know much so its best to ask.
Thanks
