1911 grease or oil

White lithium is very good, yet its has not the same anti friction characteristic as Moly based lubes and greases. Its a lubricant layer between 2 parts, but not a lubricant in itself. IOW, in WLG uses, the thickness of the layer matters more than the stuff its made of.

Grease in the summer on the side rails, oil (CLP for me) in the winter. Lots of grease out there that works just fine. I use Castol MP bearing grease you can get in a tub for $4 at Walmart, and it doesn't smell bad.
There are moly greases & synthetic greases you can get at CT that would work great too, but smell like hell.
