1911 gsg .22lg

Is Blueline still the distributor for GSG? I know their storefront is gone, but their website is still up and their mailing address is a PO box downtown.

I've got a worn slide stop and I remember a while ago, people were sending theirs in and had them replaced free of charge?

Blueline are still in business. I bought my GSG from them and they have been nothing but fantastic to deal with. Like others here, I have maybe 10k rounds through mine and any problems I had were immediately and without question taken care of free of all charges from Blueline. If I were to buy another GSG product, Blueline would most definitely get the call.

I really like mine but haven't got a high round count yet, got to work on that!

Slide stop peening is a common complaint but most say it stops after a bit. Personally, I felt it was due to the slide hitting the stop on the way back since the peening was on the front edge of the stop notch. I tried filing the stop arm a bit to get better downward pressure to keep it out of the way.

I've pretty much sworn off Winchester ammo, but mine likes Remington Thunderbolt.

I have one mag that seems to let a round jump up and stovepipe with the next live round. I hope it is just in need of some wear-in.

Overall, it's one of my favorites to use for cheaper plinking at the range.

Some have claimed increased accuracy after putting in the upgrade kit with the alignment cone. I'm debating on doing this.

That's awesome news. I called them a few years ago and they said that the slide stop peening was a common problem and they were able to replace the slides. Question is, are the new slides any better?

Just wanted to know if it is a good starter. 9mm has to much power for me, so far. Want to work my way up.

Excellent starter, particularly if you plan on shooting a 1911 in .45 acp (or, ahem, 9mm...perish the thought.)

Incidentally there are two trains of thought on beginners training. 1) begin with a center fire cartridge and training to learn how to deal with recoil properly.
2) begin with a .22 to learn the fundamentals, then move to centerfire handguns.

I have no idea which is better or correct but if every handgunner owned a GSG 1911 it wouldn't be a bad thing imho. There are better .22 auto loaders out there to be certain, but they also cost a lot more (Smith 41 comes to mind). The Ruger Marks are also an option but will teach you nothing about how a gun comes apart due to them being so different to anything else out there. The GSG breaks down (almost) exactly like any other 1911 out there.

I have one and love it. I got the ZRTS tactical upgrade kit installed on mine. I also polished the slide & rails early last year and ever since, it eats any type of ammo I feed it.
