Hi,

I am in the process of finishing off a 1911 build in 9mm and am looking for an undersized ID barrel bushing.

My current clearance with the factory parts is OD of the 9mm barrel is 0.496" and the ID of the bushing is 0.503". Bushing to slide fit is excellent but obviously barrel to bushing fit is sloppy.

Never seen such a skinny barrel for a 1911 before. My .45 and .40 barrel OD's are 0.581 and 0.580 respectively.

Anyone know a good source for undersized barrel bushings. I would like to get one that is max ID 0.499 or a blank that I can mill myself.

I have searched the web and can't seem to locate one.

Thanks in advance.

Marc

I got them from Brownells previously for a Nork 1911 in 9mm....they use that skinny barrel. Kings made the bushing I believe.
If not, EGW carries them as well.

EGW offers a service for custom making a barrel bushing for a 1911,you send them the ID of the slide,OD diameter of youre barrel and 3 weeks later you get a custom made bushing.I had one made for my Ruger 1911 which had a really loose bushing and it tightened everything up really well and made a notable improvement in accuracy.

I really like the custom cut EGW.... With thick flange and carry beve l with the angled bore cut, and matching plug.

Thanks all.

I contacted EGW and am going to order their undersized .5" ID bushing which I am told is actually .460.

Thanks again for the info
