Do you use any special lube to keep your gun functioning smoothly? As some 1911s can be pretty tight I was just wondering. All I ever use is G96 but I just use Glocks, and they don't need anything for the most part.

G96 all the way for me....running them in nearly every caliber.....don't run any of them wet...never had issues..

There have been some interesting discussions about more regular lubes....certainly the snake oils are a little pricey...I guess I'll have to try the regular stuff one day...

You can never go wrong with G96 synthetic as I have seen the tests that a certain police force did. G96 was right off the charts. That being said, my 1911's get synthetic grease on the rails and oil on everything else.

have a gun freeze on you mid mag and you'll never stray from G96 my friend.
ive run G96 for years now and havnt had any problems with any of my guns (my dozen or so 1911's included).
i run them outside in +32 to -50 every year rain or shine, blizzard or drought.
that and G96 smells the best.

I just bought a brand new springfield range officer 5. The slide to frame fit is really tight. No movement whatsoever. I used mpro7 grease on the rails and otis oil on the barrel. No problems so far in the first 50 rounds. Going to put another 250 or so rounds before re lubing it.
