1911 Half #### Problem....

I Have A Dlask 1911, Now This Is A True 1911 , Not A Series 80. So When I Have The Hammer At The Half #### Position, With A Normal Grip, Grip Safty Being Depressed. If I Pull The Trigger The Hammer Will Still Fall. Now If The Grip Safty Is Not Despressed , And The Trigger Is Pulled The Hammer Will Not Fall And The Trigger Is Locked. Is There A Problem Here ??? And If So How Should I Go Aboult Correcting It???

Any Input Would Be Nice, Thanks Fellow Gunners.

Um....if its not a 1911A1 or a Colt series 70 or a series 80, then it must be an original 1911, manufacture circa 1911-1937. But its a Dlask....so it can't be. Unless its a Dlask upper on a 1911 era frame? Methinks you need to clarify your terms of reference.

No 1911 I've ever owned (a small sample size, I admit) has ever had the condition you describe. In my limited experience, I'm guessing its a worn sear engagement surface or some type of design feature. Have you called Dlask?
 
Ah I called Dlask, & Joe at Dlask arms rembered the pistol & even who I bought it from. He told me that is the way the trigger is set up, to a 3 pound pull, it does not enguage enough to not drop, I'd have to adjust the lash on the set screw on the trigger, If i was so enclinded. So no biggie............, Thanks for all your input.............:dancingbanana:
 
It should not fall !!! it fails one of the basic function safety tests of a 1911 pistol...(series 80 not included )
[FONT=trebuchet ms,arial,helvetica]HALF-#### TEST: Using thumb, pull hammer back until the first audible click. Hammer should be at half-#### notch. Grip gun normally, attempt to pull trigger. Hammer should NOT fall for any reason, unless the gun is a Series 80 commercial. These guns have a re-designed half-#### notch that engages near the at-rest position, thus the hammer cannot fall hard enough to strike the firing pin with force. MILITARY GUNS WILL ALWAYS USE THE OLDER HALF-#### NOTCH, WHICH SHOULD NEVER ALLOW THE HAMMER TO FALL.[/FONT]

Your gun needs to visit a gunsmith......your gun will fire if the hammer falls from the half #### position.....

The screw on the trigger sets the over travel...the tip of that screw hits the mag release...
This is how to set up the over travel

Re-assemble complete handgun, #### hammer, and attempt to pull trigger. If hammer does not fall, then screw is in too much. Unscrew 1/4 turn at a time until hammer drops when trigger is pulled, then turn screw out another 1/4 to 1/2 turn. Lastly, with trigger pulled to the rear, move hammer up and down with your thumb and ensure you don't feel the sear binding on the half-#### notch as the hammer is moving up and down. If so, back out set screw another 1/4 turn.

I do not believe that adjusting the over travel will fix your 1/2 #### problem

er, thats not right. Even set up for a 3lb pull it should engage the half ####. Sounds like your looking for either a new hammer or sear or both :( . This is a dangerous condition.:runaway:
