Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone can tell me if there is such a thing as a "Drop-in" Hammer and Sear for a 1911 style pistol? If not, how hard is it to put them in? If anyone can post pics for me, that would be awsome!!

Cheers,
Darkstang

There are some parts out there sold as "drop-in" but they may or may not work in any given gun depending on tolerance variations and so forth. In my experience, most drop-in parts have needed some extra work to get them to function correctly. It also depends on what kind of trigger pull you want to achieve. If you just want something basic you might be ok with one of these sets, but if you want something a little more finely tuned you would be better off paying the extra for "smithable" parts and having a pro fit them for you.

Brownells has a large selection of hammers and sears that will literally drop-into your 1911 without any fitting whatsoever. It is not difficult at all, provided that you have a manual (and can reference what goes where).

This animation might be helpful:

It would be worth an email or phone call to Brownells to find out if the parts you want are exportable, before ordering.

Ya, What about that! Are they still exporting to Canada or is the Department of State screwing them around too?

As far as that goes, I dont necessarily want a super light trigger pull. It is nice to have a little bit of a pull to an SA trigger.(Just my opinion). I dont mind doing a little filling things here and there. Other drop in stuff I have used seems to go in flawlessly, but this hammer and sear thing is alittle more scary with the possibility of a bad connection that may lead to 7-10rds of .45ACP going fullauto and having to hold on to it! That would suck. Witnessed it once. Just for fun, does anyone know how much it would be to have a gunsmith put that in?

This is exactly my point. I've seen this happen also and it can result in serious injury or worse. As I say, A drop-in set may be fine and it may not; you won't know until you have the parts and install them. In my view, it's better to err on the side of caution and buy the best parts you can afford and have them installed by someone who knows how to do it properly.

A proper trigger job...whether you prefer a heavy pull or otherwise...will probably cost between $100.00 and $150.00 exclusive of parts. But it shouldn't have to be touched again if done right so it's money well spent.

Any suggestions of a good 1911 master? For the purpose of safety, I would have to ask who is good in this area of the 1911. We all have heard of that guy named BUBBA!!! I dont want to send it to his brother by accident!! LOL!!

I had a Springfield Champion dump seven rounds in full auto after getting a new sear installed.
I had just joined the club and if it wasn't for the look of absolute shock on my face I would have been shown the door.

Happy feeling that is, when you go to a club to make a good impression, and your gun goes APE!! I think I know who Rodger is. He sells Norinco stuff too right? Is he in Port Dover area?
