Mega issue discovered tonight on my STI spartan...
when dropping the slide on an empty chamber, the hammer falls  sometimes in semi-cocked, sometimes falls completely

off the top of your head, which part should I be switching to correct that?

hammer, sear and disconnector are still sharp. About 4000 rounds down the pipe since the Armco trigger job (I'm second owner, warranty expired long ago, and no I'm not sending back the gun to him).
picture will follow

IMO, the sear is either slipping off the hammer hook or is not fully engaging in the first place. I would replace the 3 finger spring & also check that the trigger is not binding and not returning to the forward position properly all the time.

it was exactly that. New sear spring= no more problem
very good sear to hammer engagement

look how sharp everything still is:

Yeah, I remember I bent that spring because it was catching mags, nothing to do with trigger job. I replaced it a couple weeks later along with a MSH/magwell combo. I recently put back the previous MSH and tought oh well, might aswell put the sear spring that was with it too;)

what a bad idea.

Hammer Fall!

Dropping the slide on an empty chamber is not good idea on a 1911. It will ruin a good trigger job in a hurry. Why would you do it?

Isn't that considered to be part of the standard safety check of a 1911s function? In this case I'd say it was a good thing. Just my opinion.

Correct. Letting the slide slam forward on an empty gun repeatedly will needlessly accelerate hammer/sear wear, but once or twice for safety check purposes is acceptable. The gun is not safe if the hammer follows when the slide is dropped on an empty gun.
